What plot? What build-up? I <3 FFVII as much as the next Final Fantasy fan but this movie was truly awful, storywise.

That and the editor was either on speed or has no conception of how long it takes the human brain to register images.

Tried "obtaining" it.... 1kb/s transfer. I think I'd have better luck waiting until the release date

Borrowed it from a friend of mine and got a chance to watch it, I definately love this movie and it definately lived up to the game as a movie. Which is rare, as movie's from games hardly live up to their known titles. I really, really enjoyed seeing my favorite FF characters brought to life with some of the coolest animation I've seen in a movie like that, and the battle scenes were absolutely wicked and really elaborate. I'll definately be watching it again a few times here soon. (I really think they paired the voices well with the characters too, that's why I enjoy it in japanese with english subtitles.)

It was alright, the plot was too rushed and had some unexplained parts here and there that seemed like they were too lazy to fill in, and the fighting at times reminded me of Neo vs Smith in Matrix Revolutions, which is not a good thing...

There are also some things where stupidity takes over...

Overall...

7/10, enjoyable, but not really anything too spectacular.

I'm kinda upset by the whole concept personally. Part of the appeal of the FF series used to be that each episode stood alone. You never really know what happens after you finish the game. I don't like the direction SquareEnix is taking and expanding old episodes. It ruins some of the appeal for me. And yes that includes Yuna in hotpants.

I think it could've been a lot worse if the movie took place over multiple days (months) or something, in the game you get the idea that you're traveling for many months traveling around and what not. This movie all takes place in a day so it's not really expanding, basically it felt like giving me an oppurtunity to look at the game in another sense, and it didn't really close off anything which still kept the ending feeling the same for me.

While some of the fights were kinda..."neo vs smith" like, they did a much better job of it than the Matrix series, like in the movie how they had battles flying around what stuff like that, that wasn't cool, that ruined the last matrix for me. At least it's all ...more possible in this movie.

A friend's going to burn the vid to DVD for me, so I might have this on the weekend... After looking at some reviews and pics, I am really looking forward to this! Especially some of the subtleties that FF7 players will appreciate
